To Hell in a Handbasket

I recently came across an interesting blog post with a list of 50
“random” facts questioning what’s happening to America….. Some of
them, maybe even most of them, can be applied to the rest of the world
as well….

Some of which I found to be extra noteworthy are:

#49: The state of California is to lower most of its worker’s salary
for July to the federal minimum wages of $7.25 an hour.

#48: A 86 year old disabled grandma dependent upon an oxygen tank was
recently tasered by a police officer who also stepped on the hose of
her oxygen tank until she could’t breathe because he thought her a
“threat”.

#40: The average federal worker (in the US) now earns twice as much as
the average worker in the private sector.

#34: A six year old girl is reported to be on the “no fly” list,
reserved for terrorists.

#24: Investment bank Goldman-Sachs shorted (bet AGAINST) $615 million
of loans it itself underwrote.

#22: Four of the biggest banks in the US (Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan
Chase, Bank of America and Citigroup) had a PERFECT quarter the first
quarter of 2010 with ZERO days of losses.

#10: More than $3 BILLION ($3 000 000 000), most of which is US aid
money has been stolen in Afghanistan and flown out of the country.

#6: The total debt (public and private) debt in the US is 360% of GDP.

#1: Since 1973, more than 50 MILLION babies have been aborted in the US alone.
